homework and exercises - Problem involving centripetal acceleration, rotation, and torque



I'm not sure how to get the correct answer here. I used $$F_c = m\omega^2r$$ and then measured the length to the joint as $$\dfrac{2d}{\sqrt{2}}$$ and thought that each joint holds the mass of just m, since there is 4 of them. This led me to get $$F = \dfrac{2dm\omega^2}{\sqrt{2}}$$ but this is not an answer choice: enter image description here
